My Story

One of the hardest questions for me to answer is "Where are you from?" I grew up in AR,FL,KY,NC,TN,TX, & Nigeria. I went to undergraduate & graduate school in nursing in TN, TX, & AR.

I enjoyed being homeschooled for a few years. I was very influenced by living in Nigeria and seeing those who are so happy and have so little. I delight in traveling back to a hospital there to work alongside Nigerian friends.

I always wanted to be a nurse. Once I was a nurse I knew that I couldn't be the only person in the world who counted on my values and beliefs to get me through sickness and hard times. So, my research and writing focuses on spiritual/religious needs of persons with cancer or serious illness and spiritual/religious care by nurses.

My husband Ron and I, and our two boys have lived in Southern California since 1989. We enjoy running, gardening, camping, hiking, music, church, Farside, Dr. Who (including the old ones), Britt Hume, Fawlty Towers, Keeping Up Appearances, As Time Goes By, and having lots of people over for INformal fun & dinners.

I have two young adult sons--one is lead singer/guitar/song-writer for The Good Cheer. (Check them out on myspace.com.) and the other is working on a doctorate in mathematics. And I have a new daughter (in-law by marriage) who's a fabulous person and musician.
